The Balanced Nurse- Time Management, Productivity, Work Life Balance, Self-Care, Habits, Routines, Nurses
❓❓Are you a nurse or woman in healthcare giving 100% at the bedside and nothing left for yourself? Struggling to find the time for self care and create healthier habits? Do you wish you had more energy on your days off so that you can do the things that fuel you– like getting a quick sweat sesh in, spending time with friends & family, or working towards your own goals? I am so excited you’re here, friend! This podcast will help you… ✅manage your time so that you can create healthier habits & routines ✅make time for self care ✅have more energy & ✅balance your work life so you can achieve your personal, health & fitness goals! Hey girl, it’s Ashley! I’m an ER nurse (almost 10 years) now teaching nursing students👩🏻🏫, enneagram 9, & coffee lover! For most of my nursing career, I tried balancing my work life, making time to take care of myself, and create healthy habits by just winging it with no success. 🚫 I got caught up in the work hustle and signed up for all the overtime. I would overeat, snack on all the breakroom goodies, and over do it on energy drinks. (can we say SVT?) 🚫 I found myself mentally and physically exhausted when I got home. On my days off, I was too tired to workout, meditate, plan out my week, or even spend time with family. 🚫 I would find myself mindlessly scrolling on instagram on my days off with the infamous nurse bun still intact from the prior day’s 13 hour shift. 🚫 I didn’t know how to balance the stresses of being a nurse and living a fulfilling life beyond the bedside. It wasn’t until I left my 7 year relationship and turned the big 3-0 that I finally took a hard look at my life. I realized I had been putting my career and others needs before my own. I was not prioritizing the things that mattered most in my life. I told myself that if I wanted more energy, better habits, prioritize self-care, and work on my personal goals, I needed to learn how to better manage my time and set up my nursing career around my life– not the other way around! It was time to put myself first. And it’s time for you to do the same, friend! Because we can’t give to others what we don’t have. (Say it louder for the people in the back!!) Girl, I’m excited to share with you all the tips and strategies that have helped me find the time and balance in my life to achieve my personal, health, and fitness goals! Things like… 👉🏼Time blocking 👉🏼Prioritizing, setting boundaries, & 👉🏼Productivity hacks, habits, goal-setting, WHILE 👉🏼Also taking a holistic approach to your self-care (burnout isn’t cool anymore) and other areas of your life! If you are ready to stop scheduling your life around your stressful nursing job, find a simple way to make time to go after your biggest goals & live your best life… Then this podcast is for you! Welcome back, fellow nurses, to another episode of The Balanced Nurse 🌼 Today, we're delving into the vital topic of self-compassion – a beacon of strength during life's challenging moments. I dive into Dr. Kristin Neff's research on the three key components self-compassion: self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness.
Imagine treating yourself with the same care you extend to your patients. It's about embracing imperfections, acknowledging pain, and realizing you're not alone in this journey. As nurses, we understand the essence of compassion, yet why is it sometimes challenging to direct that kindness inward?
In our exploration, we unveil the power of self-compassion to enhance overall well-being. From letting go of perfection to practicing self-kindness and forgiveness, we share practical ways to cultivate this transformative mindset. Pause, breathe, and ask yourself, "What do I need right now?"
As we wrap up today's episode, I encourage you, to embrace self-compassion in every season. Whether adapting to new priorities, overcoming setbacks, or facing unexpected challenges, approach yourself with kindness. You're not alone in this journey. Until next time, take a moment for yourself, nurses. You deserve it.💕

🎙️ Hey there, nurse besties! In this empowering podcast episode, we unravel the enchanting world of work-life harmony. We revisit the idea that balance isn't one-size-fits-all but a unique fingerprint for each of us. The journey begins with you, exploring your vision and values, as we dive deep into aligning daily activities with your priorities. 🌟 Reflect on your big picture goals, categorize priorities, and build a muscle of intentional living. 🧘♀️ As Carl Jung wisely said, "Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart." Prioritize, reassess regularly, and be kind to yourself – flexibility is the key to maintaining work-life harmony.
Finally, we explore the fascinating concept of work-life integration. I include tips like
✅Blending your professional and personal goals
✅Prioritizing self-care as a nurse
✅Setting boundaries mindfully and
✅Combining learning with leisure
Remember, integration is dynamic – embrace the journey with intentionality, allowing work and life to complement and enhance each other. And friend, always remember that work-life harmony is an adventure, not a destination. Until next time, take care and embrace the beautiful messiness of life! 🌸💖✨

Welcome back to another episode of The Balanced Nurse Podcast.🎙️
This episode aims to break the conventional perspectives on work-life balance by exploring a more holistic approach known as work-life harmony.✨ We'll delve into the importance of redefining and rethinking balance, while emphasis is placed on creating healthier habits and carving out time to work on your personal goals.
Work-life balance has often been thought of as a 50-50 split, but this isn't the reality for many, especially those in the nursing profession. The mental and emotional toll nursing takes can often blur these boundaries. Embracing work-life harmony allows for more acceptance of these overlapping complexities, providing the ability to create a life that aligns with your unique needs and desires.
In adopting a work-life harmony mindset, the discussions will provide clarity on three major mindset shifts required. These include
-Moving away from rigid schedules and expectations
-Integrating personal and work life
-And replacing the need for perfection with an ebb and flow perspective
The ultimate goal is to redefine what balance means to you and paving the path toward a more symphonic personal and professional life.
Don’t hesitate to share this episode with a fellow nurse who also aspires to manage their time better and achieve work-life harmony.

Welcome back to another episode of The Balanced Nurse!🎙️
The episodes for the month of 💖February💖 will take a different approach. Each episode in this month promises to be a heartwarming exploration, introducing a wholesome framework towards goal-setting and overcoming life's challenges.
This first episode of the month shines a light on integrating mindfulness into everyday life – moving beyond mere time management to cultivate self-awareness and mental clarity – to help you reduce daily stress and anxiety.
In this episode, we uncover the profound impact of mindfulness on my personal journey as a nurse. We explore how it has enriched my self-awareness, helped identify thought patterns and behaviors, and enabled navigation through stress and triggers in my life.
Irrespective of your profession or lifestyle and regardless of the chaos in your schedule, you can incorporate a few minutes of mindfulness daily. By doing so, you can elevate your self-awareness, focus, mental health, bring about a sense of peace, and ultimately, achieve a fulfilling life. If you are ready to take control of your time, achieve work-life harmony, and embark on the journey of mindfulness, there has never been a better time to start.
